Flower Delivery in Borovany from a Local Florist
Borovany is 17 km south-east of České Budějovice. In 2025, the town had approximately 4,184 residents.
The first written record of Borovany dates from 1186. Trocnov, a district of Borovany, is the birthplace of the Hussite commander Jan Žižka. The nearby Jan Žižka of Trocnov Memorial, with a monument dating from 1956 to 1960 and an archaeological open-air museum, has been a national cultural monument since 1978. Petr z Lindy founded the Augustinian monastery in 1455; after it was dissolved in 1785, the Schwarzenbergs converted it into a château, and the former monastery and château now serve as a cultural centre with exhibitions, gardens and an information centre. The complex includes the late Gothic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, whose tower dates from the 18th century; the square has a granite pillory from 1656 and a Jan Žižka monument from 1893, and a stone bridge from the 18th century crosses the Stropnice.
