Opalice is part of the municipality of Kamenný Újezd. A prehistoric hillfort was discovered above the Vltava near Opalice. The Opalický dub has been protected as a natural monument since 1903. The hillfort included burial mounds from the Bronze Age, Hallstatt and La Tène periods.
