Včelná lies close to the southern edge of České Budějovice. On 1 January 2026, it had about 2,338 residents.

The settlement of Včelná began in 1784 along the new imperial road from České Budějovice to Linz and became an independent municipality in 1930. North of Včelná stands a former guard house of the horse-drawn railway from České Budějovice to Linz, dating from 1826 to 1832. The village-square chapel in Včelná dates from 1900.
